A few months ago I was going through a tough time in my life. 2020 hasn’t been easy for many and I soon found out I was no exception. Luckily, I had some amazing friends to bring me encouragement, laughs a socially distant hugs! Through this, I was spending my free time looking for ways to encourage myself (a few that will be discussed in future posts). One book that I came across was called HER. by Pierre Alex Jeanty. This book is full of short poems, all less than a page and some only a few lines. Some made me laugh. Some made me cry. I soon bought two more copies for friends I knew could use a little encouragement. One of my favorite poems is below:
It’s not her shape,
her face or her hair
that makes her beautiful.
Its neither the smoothness of her skin,
the boldness when she stands,
or the perseverance in her heart.
Its the condition of her heart,
the gratitude she lives by,
and her love for God
that expresses true beauty.
There are so many things in life that can bring encouragement. Sometimes it’s a song, sometimes it’s a person, kind words, good books or your favorite place to sit and drink a tall cup of coffee. Its often hard to see those things for what they are when times are tough but I encourage you to find something in your day to bring you a smile. Turn on the radio, call a friend, maybe even read my blog! 🙂 This being my first post, I wanted to bring some happiness to the world. Please continue to join me as I explore life, recipes, fashion and more! if there’s anything you would like to read about please let me know. I’m looking to keep most posts short as I’m aware we all have busy lives.
Below is a link to the book on Amazon. There is also a Volume 2 and a men’s version called HIM.
Thank you for this! I feel that so many of. Us could use positivity and encouragement. The poem you have here is beautiful. I look forward to reading your posts.
