Day 2 in Denver!!! Unfortunately, Day 2 didn’t start off as planned. The recent fires in Colorado resulted in some road blocks. I originally planned on heading to Rocky Mountain National Park to take some sunrise shots but I slept in instead! My hour and a half drive to the park would have been turned into a four and a half hour drive if I took the alternate route around but I had way too much planned to spend 9 hours in the car that day! Now sleeping in was much needed. After long shifts at the hospital and having difficulties sleeping the past few months I was surprised that I was able to sleep so much. I’ll give credit to the decreased oxygen at higher altitudes and the fact I only slept 2 hours the previous night.
I started off my day at the Denver Biscuit Company. I had a yummy seasonal mule and a plain biscuit with honey butter… IT WAS AMAIZING! The biscuit was massive, it was fluffy and soft and my waistline is very glad this restaurant is not in San Antonio. After that I headed back to the RiNo Arts District. This area is filled with little coffee shops, restaurants, murals and art galleries. Denver is really an artists dream. I stopped in to Blue Sparrow Coffee and enjoyed a delicious latte before heading out to walk the streets and allies in search of art. If you love wondering and looking, you could spend hours here getting lost. Below are a few of my favorite pictures, and an extra pic of the wonderful yellow leaves downtown!
After that I went to get cleaned up and changed to go to the Red Rocks Amphitheater. This place is the most beautiful venue. And its open all of the time. There are constantly people working out and running up and down the stairs at the venue. It is surrounded by these massive red boulders and its amazing to believe that God created such an impressive place. It was a nice and quiet place to sit and think and appreciate life. I would definitely head back there if given the opportunity. I then headed to a nearby park, South Valley Park, to end the day with a few more shots. Again, a beautiful and peaceful spot around Denver.
I then ended the night a few blocks from my hotel at a restaurant called Guard and Grace. Here I had a perfectly cooked steak, carrots and mashed potatoes. If you are looking for a night night of wine and steak in Denver, I would highly suggest checking this place out. The staff was also very helpful and kind. Day 2 in Denver was a success despite its unplanned beginnings. If you get a chance to visit in the fall, it is a beautiful time of year and there’s so much to discover (all places mentioned above include links to their websites).
